This week’s Wrecking Wednesday, we highlight the bridge demolition of Route 100C over 9A located in Elmsford, NY in Westchester County.  The three-span bridge was a rapid removal, in which our team removed the structure efficiently and safely without causing any damage to existing utilities below.

Traffic was completely shut down on 9A to be able to safely remove the center span in a short time frame prior to continuing the removal process without disrupting the next day’s travel.  Our team and equipment needed to maneuver around a high-pressure gas transmission line as well as a water main below 100C, as well a storm drainage system—we set up necessary protection measures to ensure all utilities were not harmed during the process.  Once the center span was removed, our crew began to remove the remaining two spans, and center support piers, while installing necessary fill to specific locations, leaving the site is pristine condition.  All debris was later transported off-site for processing.
