This week for Wrecking Wednesday, Sessler heads down to Fair Lawn, NJ to remove a structurally unstable truss bridge crossing over the Passaic River.  Prior to Sessler’s mobilization, the concrete sidewalk was removed, allowing our team to get in and remove the steel gird deck, traverse grid deck support beams, and steel strings.  In conjunction with the removal operations, our team removed the cantilevered steel sidewalk outriggers.

To help remove each span efficiently and safely, we placed slider beams underneath the existing bridge to drop the truss onto, as well as hammered each respective abutment.  Once we detached the truss from the support piers, we removed the spans in increments for processing.
