This week’s Wrecking Wednesday highlights the D&H Railroad bridge demolition over I-87 in Plattsburgh, NY.  The railroad bridge was a four-span bridge spanning over 350 feet across I-87.  Our team began by removing the concrete decking shortly after the bridge was abated of all asbestos containing materials.  Once the deck was removed and disposed of, our crew began removing the steel girders span by span along with the piers, while leaving the existing floor beams in place.  To finish the full bridge removal, our team crane picked the two middle spans which where then processed into manageable pieces to be recycled.
