D&H Railroad Bridge over I-87, Plattsburgh, New York
It is Wednesday, and you know what that means – it is time for Wrecking Wednesday! This week, Sessler Wrecking is spotlighting the demolition of the D&H Railroad Bridge over I-87 in Plattsburgh, New York.
Sessler Wrecking was tasked with the demolition and removal of the four-span bridge extending over 350 feet across I-87. Our crew started by removing the concrete decking after the bridge was cleared of all asbestos-containing materials. With the deck removed and properly disposed of, our bridge demolition experts dismantled the steel girders span by span, along with the piers, while keeping the existing floor beams intact.
To complete the full bridge demolition, cranes lifted the two middle spans, which were then processed into manageable pieces for recycling.
