Rt. 400 Bridge, East Aurora, New York
We’re at the midweek mark, and you know what that signifies—it’s Wrecking Wednesday! This week, Sessler Wrecking is showcasing a bridge demolition in East Aurora, New York, along NYS Rt. 400 just outside of Buffalo.
Our dedicated Sessler Wrecking team skillfully demolished a 136-foot cast-in-place post-tension bridge nestled between two bridge spans, presenting a distinctive engineering and demolition challenge.
Our team utilized a high-reach excavator with a 90-foot boom and a 27-foot dipper arm, in addition to three other excavators equipped with hammers to demolish the bridge.
This phase of the project concluded after a week, during which the bridge was meticulously hammered away until only the last bay remained. The remaining structure was then dropped 33 feet to the ground, leaving the piers it laid between still intact.
As always, safety remained our utmost priority, and we completed the project without any safety incidents, ensuring a successful outcome
