Routes 79 and 26 Over Tioughnioga River, Whitney Point, New York

Welcome back to another exciting edition of Wrecking Wednesday! This week, Sessler Wrecking is spotlighting a bridge demolition in Whitney Point, New York.

Sessler Wrecking was tasked with removing Route 79 and Route 28 bridges over the Tioughnioga River. Our team began by removing the concrete deck from the west abutment, using a containment system to prevent debris from entering the river. Debris and demolition materials were then transported to an approved offsite facility.

Next, we detached the first truss span, laid it on the ground, and processed it into recyclable pieces. After removing the center pier, we repeated the process for the final span.
