Our favorite day of the week is back, and we’re feeling a little nostalgic, which means it’s time for another Way Back Wrecking Wednesday! This week, we are highlighting a bridge demolition in Baldwinsville, New York.

Sessler Wrecking was responsible for the removal of the former Plainville Bridge over the Seneca River. With the structure spanning an active waterway, the work required a carefully planned and highly coordinated approach to ensure safety and efficiency throughout the operation.

To support the demolition, our team engineered and configured a 40-foot by 140-foot barge system outfitted with specialized bracing and structural supports. This custom setup enabled the bridge to be picked up by the barge system and rolled while maintaining full stability at every stage.

Once positioned, the bridge was floated and systematically sheared in a controlled, step-by-step sequence. This method allowed for precise execution, minimized risk, and reduced impacts to the surrounding environment while keeping the project on schedule.
