Route 17 Over Glenwood Ave, Johnson City, New York
Due to traffic volume, all demolition work was conducted at night to have a lesser impact on traffic. Crews began removing the concrete deck on the west end of the bridge and proceeded easterly. A hydraulic excavator and hydraulic hoe ram were utilized by positioning the hammer horizontally so as to sever the curb and fascia concrete at the cold joint between the curb and fascia and concrete deck. Any reinforcements were cut using a torch.
The barrier was skillfully cut vertically into 8-foot sections and the deck was removed between each beam, allowing concrete to drop into the wing tractor trailers below until entirely removed. The wing tractor trailer system, a design patented by Craig and Vern Sessler, displays the innovative and effective solutions Sessler Wrecking brings to every project!
