Pulaski Skyway Bridge, New Jersey
This week Sessler Wrecking highlights the Pulaski Skyway bridge in New Jersey.
As with all Sessler Wrecking projects, safety is our number one priority. Due to high traffic volumes in this vicinity, the safety zone was established in advance of demolition, and work was conducted during the night to alleviate obstructing traffic. Shielding was installed to protect crews and motorists from any potential debris.
Sessler crews performed longitudinal saw cuts for the length of the bridge. Once saw cutting was completed, crews proceeded westerly to remove approximately 100 feet of parapet on each side of the structure.
Utilizing Sessler’s 335F Series Excavator, slabs were lifted and removed and loaded into trucks to be disposed of at an approved recycling facility. As the deck was removed and cross beams were exposed, the cross beams were removed by torch cutting.
