Port of Albany, Albany, New York
Welcome to another installment of Wrecking Wednesday! In honor of National New York Day tomorrow, Sessler Wrecking is highlighting the demolition of a ship conveyor system located at the Port of Albany in Albany, New York, as part of this special edition of Wrecking Wednesday!
The project’s scope encompassed the dismantling of a ship conveyor system with a history of over 60 years of operation. Our teams employed tandem crane lifting technique to lower the 60-ton truss. Our Volvo 480 Excavator, equipped with a hydraulic shear on a 90-foot boom, played a crucial role in dismantling the conveyor and safely bringing it to the ground. Sessler Wrecking successfully extracted a ship loading conveyor system that extended over a distance of 676 feet and a height of 65 feet without any incidents.
At the project’s completion, approximately 250 gross tons of steel were recycled.
