Step onto the jobsite with us for another Wrecking Wednesday feature. This week, we are shining a spotlight on a bridge demolition at the I-78 Logistics Park in Phillipsburg, New Jersey.
Sessler Wrecking was tasked with the removal of a 100-year-old, 3,700-square-foot, four-span bridge over the Dover & Delaware River Railroad. With trains passing through the site daily, the project required careful planning and coordination to ensure demolition was completed safely without disrupting active rail operations.
Due to decades of structural modifications and limited as-built drawings created uncertainty, our team verified existing conditions in the field before work began. Crane mats were placed against the piers to contain concrete debris and protect the tracks below.
Using an excavator equipped with a hydraulic hammer, our crew systematically removed the bridge piers and abutments, safely clearing the way for a new warehouse fulfillment center.
