Hurley Truss Bridge, Hurley, New York
It may be April Fool’s Day, but this is no joke. It is time for another exciting edition of Way-Back Wrecking Wednesday. This week, we are shining a spotlight on the demolition of the Hurley Truss Bridge in Hurley, New York.
Sessler Wrecking was tasked with the removal of an 81-year-old, 165-foot steel truss bridge featuring a timber deck and asphalt overlay.
Excavators were used to dismantle the superstructure, including tripping the bridge and lowering the steel truss into the creek below in a controlled manner. Komatsu equipment was then utilized to shear the steel girders into manageable sections, allowing for efficient handling and removal.
All steel materials were transported to an approved recycling facility, where they were properly processed in accordance with environmental and industry standards.
