General Electric Pittsfield Site, Pittsfield, Massachusetts
Smashing into your feed with a special Wayback Wrecking Wednesday! This week, Sessler Wrecking is highlighting an environmental demolition project from the past in Pittsfield, Massachusetts.
Sessler Wrecking was contracted to demolish several structures at the General Electric Pittsfield Site, including Buildings 15, 15A, 15B, and 15W. These buildings contained PCB materials, requiring extensive planning and strict compliance with safety and environmental regulations.
Due to the sensitive nature of the site, surgical demolition methods were used around the active facility. This strategic approach allowed our team to safely remove targeted structures without disrupting ongoing operations, minimizing risk to personnel while keeping the facility fully functional throughout the project. Close coordination with facility management and regulatory agencies was essential to the project’s success.
All equipment used on-site was fully decontaminated before demobilization to prevent cross-contamination and to ensure safe handling. In addition, all debris generated was transported to an on-site landfill for proper disposal.
This project highlights Sessler Wrecking’s expertise in safely managing hazardous material demolition within an active facility. Through precise planning, careful execution, and a focus on environmental responsibility, our team delivered a safe and efficient result.
