Your midweek demolition fix has arrived. It’s time for another edition of Wrecking Wednesday! This week, we’re highlighting a bridge demolition project in Shawangunk, New York.

Sessler Wrecking was tasked with removing the Galeville Road Bridge, an 84-year-old, two-span steel truss bridge spanning the Wallkill River. Each span measured approximately 150 feet and supported a structural roadway deck with an asphalt pavement surface.

The team carefully removed the pavement and bridge deck to prevent debris from entering the waterway before dismantling and removing the steel trusses. Throughout the project, the team maintained a strong focus on safe demolition practices and protecting the surrounding waterway.

In total, approximately 270 tons of steel and more than 115 tons of asphalt were recovered and recycled as part of the project.
