This week’s Wrecking Wednesday features the Dutchess County Correctional Facility.

Sessler Wrecking performed the complete removal of historic and active structures at the facility, which included controlled demolition as well as abatement of hazardous materials from the roof of the structures to make way for a new correctional facility for the institution to be constructed on the former footprint.

A particular challenge crews faced during this project was to conduct all work while maintaining a safe distance from correctional facility occupants, adjacent trades as well as the general public.

This job involved close coordination with the Dutchess County Sheriff’s office to work in and around the active correctional institution while eliminating the possibility for a security breech within the Sessler controlled demolition work area. As always, site safety and cleanliness were a top priority!
