Alcoa Massena East Plant, Massena, New York
Welcome back to another Wrecking Wednesday! This week, we’re highlighting Sessler Wrecking’s industrial demolition of the Alcoa Massena East Plant in Massena, New York.
Our team tackled the building separation and demolition of the Paste Plant, including Buildings 722, 722J, and 722K, down to the slab. This process involved confirming utility isolation, building a temporary wall, removing carbon dust equipment, handling asbestos abatement, and managing water disposal. We utilized our CAT 390 165’ High Reach Excavator and conducted a two-crane operation to remove a conveyor tower.
Additionally, our demolition experts took down three above-ground tanks, piping, and 12-foot ductwork near an active building and other structures down to ground level. The site was then restored to match the existing grade.
