Comstock Parking Garage, Syracuse, New York
Lights, Camera, Action!
Wrecking Wednesday is back with the must-see premiere of our full-length project video featuring the demolition of the Comstock Parking Garage at Syracuse University in Syracuse, New York.
Sessler Wrecking completed the controlled demolition and removal of a 130,000 SF, multi-story, post-tension, parking garage on an active campus. Due to the structure’s hillside design and close proximity to occupied buildings, including nearby dormitories, the project required a carefully sequenced approach with selective demolition and saw cutting to preserve key portions of the structure for future redevelopment.
Prior to demolition, 150 tons of PCB-impacted soil were safely removed, and steel plates were fabricated in-house to protect the tieback system.
Throughout the project, more than 10,000 tons of PCB bulk product concrete and over 1,600 tons of non-hazardous soil were properly removed and managed in full compliance with all regulations.
With a strong focus on safety, coordination, and communication, our team successfully completed the work while protecting surrounding structures and minimizing disruption to daily campus operations.
