Sessler Wrecking Wins 2025 APWA Project of the Year for Emergency Bridge Demolition
Sessler Wrecking has been awarded the 2025 Public Works Project of the Year Award by the American Public Works Association (APWA) New York Chapter in the Disaster or Emergency Construction and Repair category. The recognition was awarded for work performed for the Allegany County Department of Public Works on the East Hughes Street Bridge over the Genesee River in Belfast, New York. As the project’s general contractor, Sessler Wrecking led all aspects of the effort, coordinating closely with a skilled team of subcontractors to successfully deliver this critical emergency demolition.
The award highlights excellence in public works, recognizing projects that demonstrate superior teamwork, coordination, and project execution. Faced with urgent conditions, the project required strategic planning, technical expertise, and flawless execution under pressure. Through strong leadership and seamless collaboration, the team delivered results that met the highest standards.
