You know the drill, it is time for Wrecking Wednesday, and we are bringing the heat! This week, Sessler Wrecking is showcasing a bridge demolition in East Aurora, New York, along NYS Rt. 400 just outside of Buffalo.

Sessler Wrecking was tasked with the complex demolition of a 136-foot cast-in-place, post-tension bridge positioned between two existing bridge spans—an operation that required precision, planning, and technical expertise.

To tackle the challenge, our team deployed a high-reach excavator with a 90-foot boom and 27-foot dipper arm, supported by three additional excavators fitted with hydraulic hammers. This specialized equipment allowed for controlled, efficient removal of the structure.

Over the course of a week, the bridge was systematically dismantled one bay at a time until only the final section remained. That last bay was then carefully dropped 33 feet to the ground, with the adjacent piers left standing undisturbed.
