Hey there, wrecking fans, we are back for another edition of Wrecking Wednesday! This week, Sessler Wrecking is highlighting the demolition of the Dutchess County Correctional Facility in Poughkeepsie, New York.

Sessler Wrecking was tasked with the full demolition of both the historic and active buildings on site, which included controlled demolition and the removal of hazardous materials from the rooftops. This work was completed to make way for a new correctional facility to be built on the same grounds.

One of the primary challenges was ensuring all demolition activities were performed at a safe distance from facility occupants, nearby contractors, and the public.

The project required ongoing collaboration with the Dutchess County Sheriff’s Office to ensure demolition efforts near the operating correctional facility were completed without compromising site security or disrupting operations within the secured area managed by Sessler.
