It’s that time again—Wrecking Wednesday is here! This week, Sessler Wrecking is highlighting the highly technical and environmentally sensitive demolition of the Hudson Falls Powerhouse in Hudson Falls, New York.

Sessler Wrecking was tasked with the demolition of the former powerhouse facility that was located and built into the bank of the Hudson River. This project was unique due to the limited access to the site and its proximity to an active hydro-power facility. Our team employed a variety of methods, including robotic demolition using a Brokk excavator suspended from a crane, heavy equipment demolition from the ground, and manual demolition as necessary. Throughout the project, safety was our top priority, with an active swift water rescue team stationed in the water and on standby for the entire duration.

Due to the environmental complexities of the project and to ensure compliance with all environmental and safety standards, Sessler Wrecking worked in daily coordination with key regulatory agencies, including the United States Environmental Protection Agency (EPA), New York State Department of Environmental Conservation (NYSDEC), Hudson River-Black River Regulating District, and the New York State Department of Labor (NYSDOL).
