It’s that time of the week—Wrecking Wednesday is here again! This week, Sessler Wrecking is shining a spotlight on the demolition of the Rip Van Winkle Tollbooths in Catskill, NY.

Sessler Wrecking took on the challenge of demolishing the tollbooths over the Hudson River. Our crew expertly managed traffic with alternating lane control. The demolition began with removing the roofs over lanes 1 and 3, then the middle section over lane 2, and then carefully taking down the tollbooths.

Our top-tier team set up work zones overnight and demolished both structures in hours. By the next night, both sites were cleared and reopened. This tollbooth removal was part of New York State’s cashless tolling initiative for the five bridges operated by the New York State Bridge Authority.
