Sessler Wrecking is looking for a Safety & Compliance Manager!
Over the past 67 years, Sessler Wrecking has grown into one of the largest turn-key Building, Bridge, & Industrial Demolition specialists in the country. Along with that growth, Sessler Wrecking has gained the deserved reputation of a contractor that prides itself on safety.
We are seeking a candidate to be part of the Safety and Compliance Department of Sessler Wrecking. This is a chance for a motivated individual to become a part of a growing and safety-oriented construction team.
Sessler Wrecking’s corporate headquarters is in the beautiful Finger Lakes region of Upstate New York.
Responsibilities Include:
- Act as one of the primary contacts regarding the areas of occupational safety and compliance for all Sessler Companies.
- Participate as part of a corporate team to initiate, develop, and maintain policies and procedures that address key safety and compliance issues.
- Assist in generating project-specific safety guidelines and plans.
- Assist in accident/incident investigation and report on root cause and corrective action.
- Execute and support corporate safety directives and initiatives.
- Clearly communicate safety rules and regulations to all employees and subcontractors.
- Review work practices to make sure safety-related policies and procedures are being followed by employees and subcontractors.
- Notify management of any policy or procedure violations to determine what form of discipline is appropriate.
- Work with the entire safety team and supervisors to implement a proactive approach to accident prevention by training and advising management and employees on all safety issues.
- Maintain expertise on current safety issues through ongoing literature and attendance at relevant seminars and meetings.
- Work jointly and collaboratively with operations to improve the safety of our employees while increasing operational efficiencies.
- Assist in the organization of required training in all departments to increase safety awareness and adherence.
- Assist in the training of employees for regulatory compliance and the improvement of our safety metrics.
- Assist in the tracking of required safety training and regulatory certifications.
- Assists in the coordination of hazardous material pickup at job sites.
- Perform all personal air samplings, send to lab, and file results in the job file.
- Perform regular audits and report risk issues to the management group.
- Other duties as assigned.
- Required to travel to various site locations.
Desired Requirements:
- High School diploma required. Associates degree or a bachelor’s degree preferred in Health & Safety or equivalent experience and education.
- The following training/certification is preferred;
- 40-hour Asbestos certificate or willingness to obtain
- 40-hour HAZWOPER certificate
- Lead awareness training
- CPR/First-Aid certificate or willingness to obtain
- Safety Professional Certification (i.e., OSHA Academy CHSP or BCSP CSP or BCSP CHST or IHMM CSHM or, IOSH Level 3 Certification or IPEP QEP or NREP REM or NASP CSMC or, NCCER CSSS, etc.)
- 30 Hour OSHA Construction Training
- Minimum of two (2) years of safety management experience required.
- Demonstrated Technical Competencies related to federal and state health and safety regulations.
- Working knowledge of safety regulations as well as company safety policies and procedures.
- Must be able to work across all divisions of the company and build relationships with other divisions to drive continuous improvement.
- High standards for accuracy, organization, and flexibility.
Benefits:
- Salary: $50,000-$90,000
