We take you down to Susquehanna County, PA for this week’s Wrecking Wednesday where our wrecking crew demolished a 204’ long, precast concreate box beam bridge spanning over Interstate 81—this particular bridge demolition was a part of a multi-bridge, rapid replacement project we participated in throughout the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania.
The 4-span concrete bridge included three piers to be demolished, which meant our crew needed to work safely and quickly to make sure traffic was not disrupted on the busy interstate. All four spans were hammered down in two-consecutive nights, where our team laid sand and metal plates down on the road below to help preserve the infrastructure during the demolition—this also helped our crew efficiently proceed with the cleanup in a short removal window.
