Wrecking Wednesday!–Sessler was brought in by international building materials company, CRH, to demolish eight buildings at their western New York plant and remove on-site regulated waste. The concrete buildings were comprised of former raw storage, loading facilities, old clinker and load out silos that reached 85’ in height. The buildings were demolished utilizing our ultra-high reach Volvo demolition excavator and 50-ton Komatsu excavators with hammers and hydraulic sheers. Sessler recycled 25,000 tons of debris on site utilizing our concrete crushing plant.

This particular site was eligible for inclusion on the National Register of Historic Places, therefore, before any remediation would begin and excavators could mobilize on site, Sessler worked closely with the City of Buffalo Office of Permit & Inspections and the Buffalo Preservation Board on the approval of the demolition permit

Sessler’s scope of work also consisted of a significant amount of asbestos abatement to the buildings and silos. Remediation work included substantial cleanup of oils from derelict transformers on-site and removal of mercury containing items throughout the facilities.
